Fat Transfer

Get a Did you know that fat transfer offers a dual benefit? A Los Angeles fat transfer takes your own body fat from an unwanted area and deploys it to a location that could use volume. By using your own fat cells, the results from the procedure look more natural and biocompatible. You get a smoother and leaner contour. And there is no risk of allergic reaction or rejection because you are using your own cells to inject into the recipient site.

What is a Fat Transfer?

A fat transfer will feel and appear more natural than a body implant. It has benefits not only from a physical point of view but also a psychological perspective and improving your appearance. Such a procedure can raise your self-esteem and have an impact at work and in your social life. Fat transfer can be used in a variety of places, almost any area of your body. For example, it can provide physical relief for a woman with large breasts that feels pressure on her spin and experiences back pain. Fat grafting can be used for breast augmentation or more rounded and shapely buttocks.

A fat grafting in Los Angeles is considered a less invasive method that enhances your body in a more natural appearance. The incision leaves no visible scarring. And the results are long-lasting, sometimes even permanent if a healthy weight is maintained. At LA Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we understand how fat grafting can make a big difference in your life. We have successfully helped many patients get the look they desired based on their particular needs.

Consultation

At your first consultation, you will be able to ask questions and express your fears about the procedure. Does your surgeon have experience in cosmetic surgery? What kind of anesthesia will be used? What are the risks involved in the procedure? How long will the recovery time take? What improvement should you expect following your surgery?

Your doctor will discuss your health history and make a suggestion for a procedure based on your needs. Have all of your questions answered before your procedure. Make sure to know what to expect and feel good about making the right decision. It is crucial in preparing for your procedure and having the best results.

Procedure

The procedure can take up to two hours and performed under local or general anesthesia. Fat transfer in Los Angeles varies depending on what procedures are being done. Antiseptic and a topical anesthetic is applied to the donor site where the fat will be removed and the recipient site where the fat will be injected.

Fat is usually taken from the abdomen or thighs using one of several types of liposuction. The fat cells are processed and purified by the surgeon before injection. New devices can purify and concentrate the fat for direct injection with technology such as Cytori's Puregraft.

Your doctor will likely overfill the treated area because up to 60 percent of the fat cells die in the transfer. Sometimes, more than one treatment is required to get the best results. With each procedure, more fat accumulates in the treated area which can provide a longer-lasting result.

Recovery

Following your surgery, make sure someone can drive you home. You will be given specific post-op instructions. It is normal to feel some discomfort for a few days. Your surgeon can prescribe medication for the pain. Be aware that some over the counter products may increase your risk of bleeding and should be avoided unless told otherwise by your doctor. These products include ibuprofen and naproxen.

The recovery is pretty quick because of its minimal invasiveness, shorter surgical time and rapid healing. There is minimal downtime and you can return to your normal activities within a short time. Most people take between one to three weeks to recover depending on their physical health.

Expect some redness in the treated area for at least two days and swelling for a few weeks. Bruising should subside after a few days. Bandages are removed two to three days after the procedure.

You should see the improvement in your appearance soon after your surgery. However, it may take several months for the final results to be visible. You will be pleased with a fat transfer in Los Angeles getting an attractive sense of naturalness that few, if any, people will guess came as a result of a surgical procedure. The procedure will give you a more youthful appearance and pump your self-esteem.
